Hand staining allows for the uniqueness of human error in the making process and the frame appears black with a wood texture. It is earthy and bold. The print itself was also made by hand, in the darkroom. Silver gelatin is the term given to the light sensitive coating on darkroom paper and this is why darkroom prints are called silver gelatin prints. They are unique, one of a kind, original objects. Even if the image itself is reprinted, no copy can ever be exactly replicated. They are artefacts and are made with love, attention and heart.
