Curly 04 - Darkroom Print
This is a darkroom print in 8in x 10in size.
About:
Curly 04 was taken at one of my favourite rock pools. A place that can only be accessed safely around low tide, along a bushy track and down a steep row of steps. It is set out on a rock platform at the base of a high cliff face which itself has beautiful patterns, shapes and colours in the rock and sediment deposits that are visible in changing horizontal lines all the way up the cliff. Visits to this place, especially for shoots require careful planning. In large swell it is not safe to be on the rock platform.
Silver Gelatin:
This image was made by hand by me in the darkroom. Silver gelatin is the term given to the light sensitive coating on darkroom paper and this is why darkroom prints are called silver gelatin prints. They are unique, one of a kind, original objects subject to the imperfections of the handmade process. Even if the image itself is reprinted, no copy can ever be exactly replicated. They are artefacts and are made with love, attention and heart.
