I’m interested in who you are.
Underwater photoshoots are taken on black and white 35mm film. Shoots take place in the ocean at your favourite ocean location or a location suggested by me.
How does it work?
After you make your booking, we chat over the phone before the day to discuss the shoot and the images. We meet at the time and shoot location. We hop in the water and capture some beautiful memories - it’s a lot of fun. You’ll probably hear me say “can you do that again!?” a lot of times. There will most likely be a lot of laughter and the feeling of a well-earned coffee at the end. I will then develop the film and you will receive 5 physical darkroom prints (known as silver gelatin prints) in the post as well as digital scans of the negatives emailed to you to have a digital copy (expect around 10-15 digital images).
I shoot individuals, maternity and groups. Reach out if you have a question or are unsure!

Please note: when shooting in the ocean, mother nature is an author of the process too. Film photography requires good sun to create contrast underwater. Conditions and weather do not always allow for a shoot to go ahead on a planned date. I will do my best to offer alternatives where possible, however please keep in mind that some flexibility is required and we may need to re-schedule. There are strictly no refunds if you cancel your own shoot.
For ocean lovers, who feel called to be seen as they are.
More about the process
After we’ve finished the shoot, I will go away and develop the film. Developing the film and scanning it takes me 1 full day alone in addition to the shoot. Printing each image by hand in the darkroom takes another full day. That’s because developing and printing film is a process from the OLDEN days (capitals for emphasis ;) and, like a lot of things from the olden days, it takes more time. Everything is done by hand - by me! Creating a unique, original, handmade artefact.
‘Silver gelatin print’ is another name for a photograph printed in a darkroom. A silver gelatin print is an otherworldly object (ok, ok, I might be overselling it a little), but it definitely is one of a kind, different to a regular photograph and beautiful.
As I process the images in a physical darkroom, expect a little time before you receive the images. I will let you know a timeframe when we meet for the shoot.
